Bio

Named Claira Jo, but most people call her CJ, she was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. To this day, she's still honoured, proud and delighted to call it her home. From an early age, CJ has always enjoyed making up stories and games. Now being able to read and share them with children of all ages, just adds to the joy she gets when rewarded with their innocent, honest smiles. On advice given to her, she decided to write her stories down. Luckily, the stories she writes, Magical Realism/Science Faction, she loves, so writing this type of story for children, is just bliss for her.

Right now, she's having a blast creating new characters as well as taking her existing ones on different adventures.  Her readership range of 8-12, she believes, is when one's imagination is at its best.  Under the name of Auntie Claira, she's also an aspiring Storyteller, for more information, click here.  This page is currently under construction, but will be 'live' soon, if you require photos, flyers or any other info regarding Auntie Claira's Storytelling Corner - email Claira Jo .

She personally recalls her younger years with great fondness and is her benchmark for all of her stories. Since she started reading her own stories to children, their perception and what they get out of it, is priceless to her. There's nothing sweeter than a child's laughter and to know she's written something that can stir their emotions like that, just makes her want to write even more.

2008 was such a great turning point in her writing career. She finished the first of her five part novel series, a selection of poems and a handful of short stories. She also refined her storytelling craft as "Auntie Claira" with good old fashioned hard work and dedication.  Also, since becoming Regional Advisor for SCBWI Scotland, she's been taken places she could only ever dream of before now. Hence, she can only look forward to the forthcoming months with much delight and aspiration. When she's relaxing, she likes nothing better than enjoying life with her son and their ever growing family of pets. All of which, they love spending time with.

Being a children's author takes up a lot of her time, but she'll endeavor to keep posting any updates here. After all, if you've taken the time to visit her site, it's the least she can do!

Please feel free to look around and contact her if there's anything you want to ask.  She thanks you for all your support so far and looks forward to meeting all of you some day to thank you in person.

Enjoy your visit and come back soon.

'Keep smiling'

CJ
